Agnieszka Oszanca, cello

Agnieszka Oszanca, celloHaving studied cello for several years in her hometown music school, Agnieszka E. Oszanca moved to Krakow, where she has studied under the guidance of Jacek Kociuban. As a result of her chamber music experiences, she developed a keen interest in the subject of authenticity in musical performance. The decision to study early music in The Netherlands followed shortly. She completed her Masters Degree at the Utrecht Conservatorium in baroque cello class of Viola de Hoog in the summer 2008. Since autumn 2009, she has been continuing her education under Marco Frezzato in Cesena (IT).

Agnieszka has been a finalist in several competitions such as the Bach Competition in Zielona Gora (PL), the International Young Artists Presentation in Antwerp, and Academia Palatina in Mannheim.

Active as a soloist as well as a chamber and orchestral musician, Agnieszka is a member of Musica Poetica, Pramea Ensemble, Trio Ryu-Oszanca-Lievonen, and ensemble La Chromosfera. She is regularly invited to perform in the Fringe concerts of the Utrecht Early Music Festival, the Brzezice Festival in Slovenia, and similar events around Europe. She is a founder and artistic director of the Sterren Oude Muziek series and Sterrenfestival in Utrecht.

She has collaborated with Schonbrunn Ensemble on the recording of the Mozart flute concertos for the Globe label. With the Pramea Esemble, she recorded two CDs featuring rare and unpublished pre-classical flute trios. In autumn 2009, she recorded the 2nd Cello Suite by Bach for the Silver Bee project in Poland.

Agnieszka devotes herself to the research of improvisation techniques of the first cellists, including chordal realisation of basso continuo on cello.

Agnieszka plays a cello made by Benoit Fleury in Paris in 1763.
